This is the last day of 2009. And the first of my blogs. After a long period of silence, I decided to update my website. GFortran caught my attention for rest of the night.
The first thing I wanted to do is to create a blogging framework. Or, rather, use an existing blogging software. My webspace provider included an "auto-install" option for Wordpress, Nucleus and B2Evolution. I decided to use Nuclues because it occupies very little space - just over 2 MB, compared to 10 MB for Wordpress. I've tweaked some initial settings. Seems quite complicated. Of course, at Circuit Broken, I'm there to make things work :)
Not sure what to do, I downloaded the GFortran source code, along with GCC-Core. I like to experiment with the latest snapshot. This is the first time ever I'm compiling GCC. Had to install Bison and Flex. Then it was smooth sailing. The entire build took about 2 hrs 10 minutes using the "make -j 4" command.
